Certified PROFINET course for Siemens UK

For Siemens UK a special Certified PROFINET Engineer training course
was organized. 8 participants passed the exam.

The most interesting practical assignment was to hook up all the available devices to one large installation. The participants had to design, configure and program the network. At the end they managed to create an installation with lots of devices from different manufacturers.

Distributor Meeting that rocked the house

More than 40 representatives from all over the world joined the Distributor Meeting that was organized at the headquarters in the Netherlands. A large part of the participants where staff members from Competence Centers.

Dennis van Booma reported on the great acceptance of ProfiTrace. For a lot of organizations it is the de-facto tool for PROFIBUS troubleshooting and analysis. Also, it is the only tool that has worldwide support from PROFIBUS Competence Centers and Training Centers. The experts rely on this product and they recommend it as the primary tool.

SIM1 ASICs for sale

PROCENTEC has a large quantity of obsolete SIM1 ASICs, which are now available for sale. Device manufacturers that have based their design on this ASIC can contact PROCENTEC for enquiries.

The later SIM1-2 replacement is also in-stock. The SIM1 ASIC is a Medium Attachment Unit (MAU) for PROFIBUS PA. It converts Manchester coding to MBP(-IS) signalling and supplies power for the electronics of the instrument. This ASIC can be used alongside a DPC31, SPC42 or other Manchester encoder/decoder.

Exhibition SPS/IPC/DRIVES

PROCENTEC GmbH will participate on the exhibition SPS/IPC/DRIVES on 25 to 27 November 2008.

On the main PROFIBUS booth we will demonstrate ProfiTrace and the ProfiHub in a running installation. Also, visitors can be informed about the first German PROFIBUS Certified Engineer training courses that are planned in 2009. Visit in hall 6 booth 120.

More and more Certified Engineers

And again a batch of Engineers was trained by PROCENTEC at their headquarters and passed the Certified Engineer exam.

In one week, top experts Dennis van Booma and Elmer Vis, trained the engineers in the disciplines: engineering, troubleshooting and validation.

To follow up the success of the ProfiHub, PROCENTEC has launched the ProfiHub C5 for even rougher and demanding applications.

The ProfiHub family is a collection of DP network components that enable long spur lines and bus structures with star segments. They contain 5 isolated repeater channels that have short circuit protection. The ProfiHub C5 distinguishes itself with its double metal housing and hybrid power + PROFIBUS connectors.

New office in Germany

PROCENTEC GmbH officially started its activities to serve the German industry.

The company is based in Karlsruhe and Mr. Tim Karnau has been appointed as General Manager. He has to provide the end-users the same products and services with the enthusiasm PROCENTEC is famous for. The company will play an important role in the standardization of ProfiTrace, the worldwide recognized PROFIBUS troubleshooting and commissioning tool.

PROFIBUS DP Spur Line Repeater

ProfiHub B5 is an IP 20 network component for PROFIBUS DP installations to implement long spur lines and backbone structures with star/tree segments.

It has the functionality of 5 isolated repeaters. This allows network structures with extended spur lines that individually can handle a maximum of 31 devices and a length equal to the main bus. The spur lines have short circuit protection and the maximum baudrate is 12 Mbps.

The launch of PROFIBUS dates back more than 15 years ago. Constant evolution of the open standard allowed PROFIBUS to develop into the position of the world's leading fieldbus, maintaining compatibility all the time, which protects investment in this bus technology. This concept qualifies PROFIBUS as the one and only fieldbus for 'Total Plant Automation'. PROFIBUS has substantial cost saving potential, facilitates engineering and maintenance as well as it provides the diagnostic and maintenance information for the Asset Management System that is vital for plant optimisation today.
