dp slavePA slaveIntroduction
PROCENTEC is an accredited PROFIBUS Test Laboratory for the certification of PROFIBUS devices. In our laboratory vendors can have their products tested on PROFIBUS compatibility. Based upon the positive test reports from the laboratory, PROFIBUS International issues certificates for the tested devices.

A PROFIBUS certificate is more than a marketing argument for the manufacturer: It stands for the quality of a product. Many end-users only use certified products in their plants. Thus, a certificate is often the reason why a certain product is chosen. Currently, more than 1200 PROFIBUS products are certified, so that the end-users can choose from a great variety of products.

The basic tests which are executed at the PROFIBUS Test Laboratory are described in detail in the Test Specifications for PROFIBUS DP slaves and PA Field Instruments. The test specifications can be downloaded for free for all PI members at www.profibus.com or can be obtained from PROFIBUS International.
Full service formula
Hardware testWe have a team of experienced engineers and testers to support the client. We test the device according to standardized test specifications, but also give recommendations and advice about the device on end-user level.

We can also support the client at the start of the development with consulting services, protocol stacks, product development, development tools and even ASICs.

Hardware adjustments and software updates
Sometimes we discover errors in the hardware or software of the device. In those cases we try to solve the error at our location to save precious time for the client. It's our strategy to support the client as much as possible. If an engineer is present during the testing, he has the opportunity to benefit from the knowledge of the experts at PROCENTEC.

We have all kinds of components (ASICs, active and passive components) on stock, soldering/de-soldering equipment and specialised personnel who can do hardware adjustments for the client. The necessary equipment is available to update EPROMs or Flash.
Test sequence
Schematic check.
Hardware and electrical test.
Protocol and software test.
GSD file check.
Multi-vendor test/Interoperability test.
Manual check.

We start with the hardware test because this element is the most critical test procedure. When the hardware is approved, software updates are easily to do. Some clients certify the product on hardware first so that they know the hardware is correct and that they can proceed with the software development, without losing precious time during final certification.

Required days for the specific implementations:

Device type ASIC- Average test time
Simple DP slave LSPM2 2 days
Standard DP slave SPC3, VPC3+C 3 days
DP-V1 slave SPC3, DPC31, VPC3+C
(VPC3+B is not tested anymore!)-
4 days
RS 485 hardware test   1,5 days
Simple PA slave (compact device)- DPC31, SPC4 6 days
MBP hardware test   2 days
5 steps to get a PROFIBUS certificate for your product
Step 1 - Test Request
Fill in the “Test Request Form” to specify:
Product description.
Implemented protocol (DP-V0, DP-V1, PA, profiles, etc.)
PROFIBUS ASIC (LSPM2, SPC3, VPC3+C, SPC4, etc.)

We will answer your request as soon as possible by sending a test contract by e-mail or fax in which you can find our conditions and prices. We will also inform you about our next possible test date.

Step 2 - Register the device
Register the device at PROFIBUS International to obtain an “Ident Number”.

Step 3 - Preparations
When all conditions meet your schedule, you send us a filled in test contract by fax or post. When we have received the test contract we will book the desired test date and send you a document with the requirements to perform the test. A week before the test date the necessary items required for the test must be received by us:
The product in the form as it will be sold.
Description and explanations required to understand the product (manual would be best).
Schematic of the bus interface unit (From the PROFIBUS-ASIC or microprocessor to the connector).
Copy of the assigned Ident Number from the PNO.
The device specific GSD file.
Declaration of conformity of the manufacturer, that the device under test fulfils the safety- and interference immunity standards (e.g., VDE 01060, EN 50082, UL 1950, UL 508, IEC 80x, ...).

Multi-vendor testStep 4 - Testing the device
We will test your device and give feedback about the test results.

Step 5 - Apply for a certificate
When the test is finished and every aspect has been approved, we post you a test report, which has to be sent to PROFIBUS International. Based upon the test report, PROFIBUS International issues a certificate for the tested device.
Testlab clients get a one-time discount of 400,- on their invoice if they bought ProfiScript in the past.
