Introduction
The introduction of fieldbus technology in the world of industrial automation has changed the way of working and thinking concerning the definition, design and project strategy of PROFIBUS installations. The key to a successful implementation is determined by an approach based on knowledge and experience. The consequences are that a lot of questions arise concerning the selection criteria and concessions of a good PROFIBUS installation-design and the implementation of it.

The workshop 'PROFIBUS Engineering & Design' delivers a complete knowledge package, which is completely focused on real practical situations. From a multi disciplinary approach different project cases and applications will be worked out. The main focus will be on defining the network, specifying the selection criteria and selecting the components from a project point of view. This step by step method catches the pitfalls and guarantees a successful project implementation. It also teaches the attendee how to use the PROFIBUS features at the most optimal way so that the investments are protected. With real cases the theory will be examined with practical exercises.

At the end of the workshop the attendees are capable of designing a professional and stable PROFIBUS installation according to the defined specifications and application criteria.
